Mozilla puts Firefox auto-updates temporarily on hold due to crash issue

Following a spate of reports from users, Mozilla has temporarily suspended updates to Firefox 3.6.8 and 3.5.11. Mozilla's Mike Shaver told InfoWorld, "We've limited updates to Firefox 3.6.9 and Firefox 3.5.12 at this time as we evaluate some early feedback which indicates that a subset of our user base may be finding the releases unstable."

Once the startup crash bug has been rectified, the automatic update switch will be turned back on. If you've got concerns about security and would prefer not to wait, you can manually download and install Firefox 3.6.9 or 3.5.12 -- the startup crash bug seems to be limited to users who utilized the automatic update process.
