OpenNI aims "to accelerate the introduction of Natural Interaction applications into the marketplace," and releasing drivers is a good first step. Binaries for 32-bit Windows and both 32 and 64-bit Ubuntu systems are available for download and source code is also available. There's also a full OpenNI user guide in PDF format.
Here's hoping driver availability leads something more than slick demos -- we'd love to actually be able to control our desktops this way.
Official Kinect drivers now available for Windows and Ubuntu originally appeared on Download Squad on Mon, 20 Dec 2010 10:50:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
